EXCLUSIVE
27th December 2010 - Residents of Victoria, the most densely populated state in Australia, were treated to a Christmas light show in the sky.
The strange lights were first spotted near the Melbourne Airport around 10:15 pm on Christmas Eve, according to the Herald Sun.
Witnesses reported seeing “orange lights that formed a diamond and moved in a synchronized pattern.” Resident David Bekesi, 52, said that the lights were visible for several minutes before disappearing, adding:
“They all grouped in one area and then went straight up into the sky.”
Although many of the witnesses used the words “unbelievable” and insisted it was not a plane or balloon, the more skeptical Herald-Sun commenters offered a plethora of explanations for the UFO sighting.
One commenter reported seeing candle-like objects released from a church in the area. Some pointed out a number of celebratory fireworks displays around Victoria at the time.
Others speculated over the possibility of Chinese lanterns, or a hobby craft. Some believers offered up the theory that the lights were extraterrestrial in origin.
Others, however, chose to place their their faith in the spirit of holiday tradition. They said that it must have been Santa.
Al's note: Damb it as i was just down around melbourne doing some UFO spotting but as i always say its a game of Patience and keep trying!
27th December 2010 - A UFO said to look like a secret Area 51 government plane shown on YouTube was seen last week by a Darwin man.
The man, who wanted only to be known as Brian, said he was having a beer and a smoke outside his unit in Sunset Drv about 9.30pm on Thursday when he saw a large, black flying triangle with lights on the side.
"I thought it was a plane but all it made was humming sounds," he said.
"It was maybe at the third level of my unit block just hovering and gliding.
"I wish I had my phone, my iPhone to record it."
This year in the Territory there have been many UFO sightings, and rumours British pop star Robbie Williams had bought a property at Daly Waters so he could pursue his passion for UFO spotting. There were seven sightings in a week in April.
This may be unusual with high-profile Acacia Hills UFO spotter Alan Ferguson having said they usually visit the Territory in the dry.
In telling his yarn, Brian reluctantly admitted he had ducked outside to "to use the toilet". "I'd mistaken it for a lamp post. I was relieving myself in the garden and I looked ahead and saw a light, then the light dropped a little, it was moving and I thought it was a plane and I was waiting for the roar of the engine and it was just humming."
"I look up YouTube sometimes, and under Area 51airplanes there is a triangle one, it was much like that."
He said there were about three bright, white lights on either side and one on the tip of the triangle which was about 20m across as it hovered for about 20 seconds.
"If anything what they have on YouTube is down pat, it was like secret government plane," he said.
Police said they had no reports of any other sightings.
24th December 2010 - From all the team at UFOterritory, let me wish you all a wonderful and Merry Christmas!
Thanks to the people that have supported and worked the site throughout the year and be safe through the christmas period and we will see you back next week!
So keep those eyes to the sky my friends and HOOROO!!

24th December 2010 - A DOZEN Territorians have been abducted by extraterrestrial life - and they are "just the tip of the iceberg", an expert on paranormal activity says.
Mary Rodwell, founder of the Australian Close Encounter Resource Network, said in her role as an hypnotherapist and counsellor for people with paranormal encounters she has come across "at least a dozen people from the Northern Territory", who had experienced encounters with "non-human beings".
"I had people telling me they found strange little marks, bruises and scars on their bodies when they woke up in the morning.
"Many of the marks and scars fluoresce in ultraviolet light. They have time missing in their memory.
"People found themselves outside their house with all the doors locked from the inside, and they don't know how the hell they got there."
Ms Rodwell said many people did not want to go public with their encounters, fearing they would be laughed at.
"Or they just don't know what to make of it," she said.
"But this is real, this is not a fantasy. I don't have any doubts this is reality, we are being visited. "There is a lot of evidence out there for it (abductions).
"The people who contacted me are just the tip of the iceberg; I am sure there are plenty more."
The British-born counsellor said that most of the abduction reports came from "around the vicinity of Darwin".
"It doesn't have to happen in isolated places, it happens everywhere - to articulate, credible people, who are not crazy. "Some people have seen things up close, like a beam of light that came down from a craft, or crafts sucking up water from dams or lakes."
Ms Rodwell said many of the Territorians who had turned to her for help had not believed in UFOs or aliens until they had seen things "with their own eyes".
FILES SHINE LIGHT ON UFO SIGHTINGS
24th December 2010 - New Zealand's most famous UFO sighting was a moving cluster of bright lights five times the size of a large fishing vessel that dazzled and spooked the occupants of a small plane during a routine newspaper drop.
The lights seemed to move with the plane as it flew off the coast of Kaikoura in 1978, moving away when the plane headed directly for it, and then disappearing after being witnessed for somewhere between 12 and 20 minutes. It was described as extremely bright, flashing and elliptical - and difficult to explain away as "conventional phenomenon".
But an official report by the Air Force disagreed, and said the sightings could be explained as an unusually bright sighting of Venus, bright lights from fishing vessels, or "freak propogation of radio and light waves".
It also noted that spurious radar readings in Wellington Air Traffic Control were common off the east coast of the South Island at the time.
Thousands of secret files on alleged UFO sightings from 1952 to 2009 were released by the Defence Force today, including sightings by members of the public and military personnel, as well as investigations by Government departments and agencies, media reports and letters from people claiming to be in touch with aliens and space ships.
Among the files is the report - What Really Happened in New Zealand by Dr Bruce Maccabee, for the NZ UFO Studies Centre - into the Kaikoura sightings.
The report does not try to explain what the object was, but concludes that it was hard to explain some sort of "conventional phenomenon".
The report relied on eight witnesses including Christchurch reporter Dennis Grant, who was the only one who took notes during the sightings, and a film that proved to be "a veritable tour de force of UFO images".
"The film contains pictures of airport lights, pictures of the airplane cockpit pictures of (Australian reporter) Quentin Fogarty at Christchurch Airport, and pictures of .... UFOs," the report says.
Evidence showed that the film was continuous footage from inside the aircraft. "Thus the film is not a hoax."
The report said the object, whatever it was, was never closer than 16kms to the aircraft while it was being filmed, though Mr Fogarty "remembers looking almost straight down on the object ... and the captain is quite certain that the plane passed over it."
The night of December 30, 1978, was meant to be just a regular run from Blenheim to Wellington to Christchurch and back to Blenheim to drop off some newspapers.
Aboard the south-bound four-engine turbo prop Argosy freighter were Captain Bill Startup, co-pilot Robert Guard, reporter Quentin Fogarty and a film crew including cameraman David Crockett and his wife Ngaire.
Eerily, the crew were shooting footage for a news story about a previous UFO sighting on a similar flight 10 nights ago in the early hours of December 21.
The plane took off at 11.46pm, December 30.
"During the flight south the pilot and co-pilot observed lights that were first seen in the direction of Kaikoura, from a point just southeast of Cape Campbell. Coincidentally, Wellington radar picked up and reported targets which were in the vicinity of the plane. It appears that at least two, and perhaps several, of these anomalous radar targets were observed by the passengers on the plane."
The camera man shot footage on the "anomalous bright objects" .
The airplane radar was not in use, but Wellington Air Traffic Control picked up something on radar within about 32 kms of the plane as it travelled towards Christchurch.
When the plane started turning east off the coast of Kaikoura, Wellington picked up further radar readings of something that appeared a few kilometres behind the plane.
"About half a minute later Wellington said there was a further target about four miles (6 kms) to the right of the plane. About 45 seconds after that Wellington told the plane that something was flying in formation with it. The plane and the unidentified target flew side by side for at least half a minute, after which the radar target reduced to that of the plane alone."
The plane then reported the object, "a flashing light", falling behind the plane. Wellington ATC confirmed this with their radar readings.
The plane landed in Christchurch at 1.01am, December 31.
"The crew discussed the sightings with the Christchurch radar operator, who described to the crew an anomalous target that was not particularly impressive to him."
Mr Fogarty and Mr Crockett decided to fly back to Blenheim. Christchurch reporter Dennis Grant also joined them. The plane left for Blenheim at 2.16am.
"About three minutes later, as the plane climbed through a low cloud cover, the pilot, co-pilot, and cameraman, who were all in the cockpit at the time, observed a bright yellow/white/orange light apparently at about their level, which would appear and disappear through the tops of the clouds. It was between 10 and 30 degrees to the right of the aircraft."
The captain was reading the object on his radar and thought the size of the "blip" was three to five times larger than a large fishing boat.
"By the time the plane was about 11 minutes out of Christchurch ... the bright light was about 70 to 90 degrees to the right of the aircraft and about 12 miles (19 kms) away and no longer on the plane radar."
The cameraman shot footage of the object, which ranged from "yellowish white elliptical shapes with reddish fringes to overexposed, nearly triangular and circular shapes".
Mr Fogarty then noted: "The pilot has just told us that he is going to actually level off ... and head toward the object to see what happens."
The plane turned towards the bright light, "but even after a turn of about 90 degrees, the object was not directly ahead of the aircraft, as if the object had moved to the right".
The radar then lost the object, but the people in the cockpit could still see it ahead of the airplane.
After holding his course for one or two minutes, the captain turned back to his original flight path.
Writes Mr Fogarty: "It appears, in fact, to be losing its speed ... rising, coming back towards us again ... It appears to be coming straight for us ... It's getting a little bit brighter.
"It's now dropping right away behind us."
It disappeared by the time the plane finished its turn.
During the whole time the people in the plane were mesmerised by the light, neither Air Traffic Control in Wellington nor Christchurch picked up anything. "This may have been because it was too low to be picked up and/or because it was a weak target for 50cm radar."
As the plane approached a point south-east of Kaikoura, Wellington ATC again picked up readings of something within 32kms of the plane, which was at least once also picked up by the plane's radar.
"Occasionally, unusual bright lights were visible in the directions indicated by the Wellington control."
A photo at the time showed a "bright light which alternates in a regular, cyclic manner from bright white to dim red and orange. It apparently travelled in a series of loops, described as 'rolling and tumbling'."
Mr Fogarty decided that it was too much excitement for one morning, and said: "I, for one, am hoping that, uh, we've seen enough, and, uh, the rest of our journey back to Blenheim will be uneventful. I've had quite enough of UFOs for one night."
But about four minutes later, he noted: "We've got another one right in front of us ... very bright ... seems to be a long way away. Another one just to the left of it. The one flashed extremely brightly. They've both now faded ... The other one's flashing again. It's giving off an orange flashing light. It looks like an aircraft beacon."
The report notes as they neared their destination, Mr Fogarty may have been describing the Blenheim airfield beacon.
The plane landed in Blenheim at 310am.
"It is not the intent of this paper to offer an explanation for the unusual bright source. However one may note that the brightness, the size (20m or more), and the duration (it was seen for over 12 minutes) place rather severe requirement on a conventional phenomenon such as, for example, glowing plasma or 'ball lightning'."
However, a report from the RNZ Air Force found that the lights could be explained by "natural but unusual phenomena".
It explains the light sightings during the south-bound flight as "spurious" radar readings out of Wellington Air Traffic Control.
"The crew observed a pulsing type of white light that looked like a helicopter search light zooming on to the beach somewhere north of the Kaikoura Peninsula," the report said.
"It is difficult to explain the lights, short of them being some anomalous type of reflection or refraction, cars or trains. However it is most probable that the Wellington Radar returns were spurious."
Atmospheric conditions at the time were conducive to freak propagations of anomalous radio and light waves, the report said.
During the apparent confrontation with the object, when the plane turned towards the light and then back to its original flight path, the Christchurch radar reported nothing.
"The visual observation made by the crew is consistent with an unusual view of Venus. The bearing of the observation coincides with the point at which Venus would have been visible," the RNZAF report said.
"However, this observation was made at about 225am and Venus did not rise until about 328am. Nevertheless Department of Science and Industrial Research scientists have advised that with super refraction it would be possible to see the planet some time before its actual rising, and if it were seen it would have the appearance that the crew described.
"During the period an unusually large number of vessels sailed from Wellington, often at night, to position off Banks Peninsula. Not only would these vessels provide a good source for radar returns, but the lights that they use when fishing could explain some of the visual sightings of unusual lights."
The RNZAF report also came to the same conclusion about radar readings that were picked up in the same area during flights in the early hours of December 21, 1978.
On that night, crew on two Argosy flights from Woodbourne to Christchurch were asked to check out the Clarence River area, after Wellington ATC received odd radar readings.
Flying north from Christchurch, one of the crews "got the impression of the lights making rectangular patterns at irregular frequency".
The second flight found nothing in the region, either visually or on radar.
The investigation found that Wellington ATC was unreliable and gave "anomalous radar returns off the east coast of the South Island".
"This was proved by Department of Science and Industrial Research observation of the Wellington radar 8/9 January 1979 and taking a series of photographs of the radar presentation throughout the night ... On several occasions during the night when many large returns were painting on Wellington Radar, the observers on the coast could see nothing either in the air or on the sea in the positions passed to them by the Radar Controller."
Wellington controllers also told the investigation that the radar readings in the Clarence area and south of Wellington had been "anomalous" for several months.
Another report showed unusual radar readings from Wellington for the Clarence River area on December 25, 1978, which coincided with a sighting from a plane of "red light".
17th December 2010 - E.T. does not need to phone home anymore, someone, or something is on it’s way to earth.
SETI Astrophysicist Craig Kasnov ( not to be confused with Craig Kasnoff ) has announced the approach to the Earth of 3 very large, very fast moving objects. The length of the "flying saucers" is in the range of tens of kilometers. Landing, according to calculations of scientists, should be in mid-December 2012. Date coincides with the end of the Mayan calendar.
A few very large objects rapidly approaching the Earth - says SETI astrophysicist Craig Kasnov. Don’t take his word for it you can check it out for yourself. He recommends to go to the site http://www.sky-map.org/ and enter the coordinates of the giant UFO:
19 25 12 -89 46 03 - the first large object
16 19 35 -88 43 10 - a cylindrical object
02 26 39 -89 43 13 - the object as a circle
The project participants are assured that the facilities are absolutely real, and the American space agency NASA is trying to conceal important information.
None of these objects can be seen from the northern hemisphere. The second set of numbers in each line tells us that the "object" or "objects" is/are coming in from very deep in the southern hemisphere sky.
In any case, the only thing we can do now - wait for it - says Kasnov. - Soon celestial objects will be visible in a good telescope.
Keep your eyes on the skies… the truth is out there.
15th December 2010 - Well my friends, been down here in rainy Melbourne for the last 8 days and havent seen not the slightest of any Alien action around!
The days and nights that were clear produced nothing so it looks like the ufohunter missed out!
While down here it was great to see the overwhelming interest in the ufo phenonema by lots of people i was speaking to which is a good sign!
If the Governments of the world all decided to come clean with what they know regarding ufo files they would be surprised by the positive approach given to them by the general public!
Disclosure needs to happen as the secrecy going on does nothing for there credability! A UFO is spotted around the world every 6 minutes so the evidence is overwhelming!
8th December 2010 - WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange threatens to release encrypted "doomsday" files, should he be arrested for releasing classified State Department cables.
The situation grows more outrageous and now, surreal. Mr. Assange has disclosed to the Guardian that information on UFOs and extraterrestrials is included in an unreleased cache of stolen diplomatic communiques.
That whirring little bombshell sparked some 8,000 mentions in the press, along with intense scrutiny from people like Stephen Bassett, executive director of the Paradigm Research Group and founder of X-PPAC -- the Extraterrestrial Phenomena Political Action Committee, and the Institute of Frontier Science.
For years, the group has asked the White House to release classified materials about UFOs, alien encounters and otherworldly fare in the name of full transparency. But, uh, not Assange-style.
"The prospect that WikiLeaks may publish UFO/ET-related documents is now in play in the public's mind. This is notable. While Paradigm Research Group has never encouraged anyone to illegally release classified files, if such documents do turn up in future WikiLeaks releases, UFO/ET researchers will study them carefully for their impact on the disclosure process," Mr. Bassett told Inside the Beltway.
5th December 2010 - The outcome of NASA's press conference. NASA has discovered alien life – but it is right here on Earth.
The announcement, at a press conference at the space agency’s US headquarters, follows days of frenetic speculation that it was about to reveal the existence of life on another planet.
While the truth – an ‘alien’ bacterium lurking deep within a Californian lake – is rather closer to home, it markedly raises the odds of ET’s existence.
The excitement lies in the bug’s ability to eat and thrive on arsenic, one of the most toxic chemicals on the planet. It can even incorporate arsenic into its DNA, making it part of its very being.
All 'known' life requires six fundamental elements - carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorous and sulphur - which provide the building materials for DNA, proteins and fats.
As every other form of known life uses phosphorus rather than arsenic as a key building block of its DNA, the find suggests that a second form of life is with us, right here one Earth.
And if one alien lifeform exists, space enthusiasts argue, it is highly likely there are others out there.
Dr Felisa Wolfe-Simon, from Arizona State University, who led the US researchers, said: ‘Our findings are a reminder that life as we know it could be much more flexible than we generally assume or imagine.
If something here on Earth can do something so unexpected, what else can life do that we haven’t seen yet? Now is the time to find out.
1st December 2010 - NASA has scheduled a press conference in Washington Thursday to discuss an astrobiology finding that will affect the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life.
Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe.
The media event will be held at 1 p.m. CST at NASA Headquarters in Washington and broadcast live on NASA TV. The finding that is the subject of the press conference is embargoed until Thursday.
Participating on the press conference panel are:
Mary Voytek, director of the astrobiology program at NASA HQ.
Felisa Wolfe-Simon, NASA astrobiology research fellow, U.S. Geological Survey, Menlo Park.
Pamela Conrad, astrobiologist, NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt.
Steven Benner, distinguished fellow, Foundation for Appliied Molecular Evolution, Gainesville.
James Elser, professor, Arizona State University.
28th November 2010 - Horse Mutilations near Denver Blamed on ‘UFOs’ by paranormal investigator, Sheriff disagrees.
The Schneider family in El Paso County, Colorado found two of their horses dead and badly mutilated on their ranch.. After the discovery, the family filed a report with the El Paso County Sheriff’s department and called in a paranormal investigator to search for answers.
The horses were discovered with their throats slit and chests cut open. The genitals, tongues, and eyes of the horses were removed. The family stated that there were no footprints around the horses and no blood evident.
Since El Chupacabra, humans, predators and satanic cults would leave footprints, the paranormal investigator on the case blamed UFOs, according to a report by Fox31 news in Denver.
News reports make no mention of how long the horses were missing prior to the discovery of the carcasses.
The paranormal investigator on the case, Chuck Zukowski, examined the horses and determined that UFOs were to blame. With 8 animal mutilations in Colorado.this year, Zukowski said that the evidence points to the horses being mutilated in a manner that would support his assertion.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s department doesn’t agree with the conclusion of Zukowski’s investigation.
Although they did not examine the horses closely, since the animals were “badly decomposed,” they say that the state of the horses were consistent with a predator attack.
Zukowski and the Schneiders state that they know what predator attacks look like and choose to believe that this was an alien-related mutilation. The family is fearful that it could happen again.
According to Zukowski’s website UFONut, he has 30 years of experience in the paranormal and specializes in “a diverse area including UFOlogy, Roswell, alien abductions, cattle mutilations, UFO investigations and ghost hunting,” Zukowski is also “a Sworn Deputy Sheriff for Colorado’s El Paso County Sheriff’s Reserve Unit.”
28th November 2010 - Its been a tad quiet up here in the Top End skies lately which is the norm at this time of the year.
Been lots happening all over the world though with continued reports of sightings from the United States and also England so they are getting plenty of action but none here!Hopefully the Boys from upstairs will return for a pre Christmas dash around the rural area so i can get some good footage for the site! Will be in Melbourne for a week on the 7th of December so will be keeping an eye out down south to see if there is any action in the Victorian skies! You never know as its a matter of keep looking and being patient and you never know what you may see!

21st November 2010 - The Truth Is out There, our vast universe. Contributed by Sean Naughton
Do aliens exist somewhere in our vast universe? It is more than likely, writes Sean Naughton.
The idea of intelligent extraterrestrial life occupies the human imagination like no other phenomenon.
Has any other hypothesis spawned as many generations of stories, folk tales, TV shows, general discussion, scientific discussion, believers, disbelievers and those who just keep a fascinated eye on the evolving discussion?
While we delight in watching aliens on our film and television screens as well as reading about them in novels and hearing urban legends, would we be as enthusiastic if there were other life forms in our universe?
Ancient cultures are replete with stories of beings from distant planets.
The Dogons of Western Africa, a people well known for their cosmogony, claim that their knowledge of the existence of the faint star Sirius B, of which they had been aware for over a thousand years, a star which was only discovered by western scientists in 1978, was given to them by a race of people from the Sirius system itself.
Present-day claims of extraterrestrial life are often less absolute then those of the Dogons, but how likely is it that intelligent life has evolved more than once in the universe? An enormous number of factors need to come together before life is even theoretically possible.
Many of the molecules needed, such as iron, copper and nickel, occur exceedingly rarely in the universe, as does the medium needed to mix them all together, liquid H2O. An equation that worked out fortuitously for humans seems prohibitively improbable for other aspiring life forms.
There is however no shortage of space for life to get going. Our Sun is one star in a galaxy of a hundred thousand million (100,000,000,000). That works out as twenty stars for every person on Earth.
Of course, stars are not the places to look for life. What we want are planets orbiting these stars, just close enough that water won’t freeze but also just far enough away that it won’t boil away. How many are there?
A recent study in the journal Science examined 166 sun-sized stars and found nearly one in four had rocky, earth-sized planets in close, Earth-like orbits. The odds suddenly start to look a lot better.
The famous Italian physicist Enrico Fermi articulated this apparent paradox. The universe is very old and very large, so this should mean a high probability that intelligent life exists.
16th November 2010 - Mum talks to Aliens onSBS. I would like to congratulate the Joinedupfilms crew on an outstanding Doco put together for tv screening on the 30th November at 8.30pm.I was involved with some shooting of the doco down Wycliffe well way and had lots of fun and thank the crew for giving me the chance to participate!I didnt make the final cut for TV but theres a chance that it will be shown on the SBS website as there is so much quality filming they are using it All!
14th November 2010 - Proposed UFO Conference speaker Robert Hastings has his say on ufos over there in the United States! His Public Exposure is a plus for the NT as he tells the world about the conference in our capital city Darwin.
VISITORS to the University of Oxford will be getting the inside scoop on alien activity later this month.
Robert Hastings will speak on UFOs: The Secret Story, in which he alleges the US has a “covert response” to alien activity.
He previously appeared on US chat show Larry King Live and in September spoke at a conference at which former US Airforce personnel divulged information about ‘UFO activity’ during the Cold War.
Mr Hastings said his interest in UFOs began in 1967, when he was at Malstrom Air Base in Montana and witnessed “two weeks of intermittent UFO activity.”
He said: “One night, five UFOs were tracked on radar for several minutes and jets were launched to intercept them.
“I later learned from Air Force sources that as the jets closed in, the UFOs performed a vertical ascent and left the area at enormous speed, far beyond the capability of any aircraft.”
Mr Hastings will be discussing his findings from the testimony of 120 former US military personnel when he comes to the city on November 24.
He said: “I believe that the American public, and people everywhere, should be given the facts.”
The talk will be in the Jacqueline Du Pre Auditorium at St Hilda’s College from 7.30 pm.
9th November 2010 - UFO Conference Update: The Proposal for funding of the ufo conference to be held in Darwin by both me and my associate put to Tourism NT was knocked back due to what we were told was , "they dont help fund conferences "I find this a bit hard to believe as how is the NT expected to attract people here for these conferences when the industry turns a blind eye! It was a win/win situation for both the Tourism industry and the chance to explain to people what the ufo topic is all about and would have been a worldwide advertisement of up to 100,000,000 people from all parts of the world for our Capital city Darwin but they could not see the benefits for so little outlay The tourist numbers are dwindleing and this was the chance to get people here as we are planning to move the conference to October when the town is dead and needs tourists to help the cafes, restaurants, hire industry, venues, accommodation and also planned ufo conference/kakadu packages, ufo conference/Litchfield Park packages so everybody wins!
We are now hoping to get funding elsewhere and will push hard to keep this unique conference here but in the long run if that fails then it could be moved to sydney where New South Wales will be laughing all the way to the bank!
It is disappointing as this is something very unique to the Territory with ufo sightings over many years and on the rise but thats life!
9th November 2010 - Even though she was just a child, Terry Peck says she will never forget the day in 1966 when a low-flying silver disc landed next to her Melbourne School.
Witnesses described seeing a low-flying, shiny, silver-grey object, which was shaped like a ''cup turned upside down on a saucer'' and accompanied by five light aircraft.
That sighting by dozens of students in the Victorian suburb of Westall has become one of Australia's most controversial UFO reports, and the subject of an internationally acclaimed documentary that will be shown this afternoon in Turner, followed by an open panel discussion with the director and investigators.
The film Westall '66: A Suburban UFO Mystery says that students, staff and local residents watched a strange object hover overhead for several minutes, land briefly, then lift off and vanish at great speed.
''We were out playing sport on the oval. One of the kids yelled out 'look, look up in the sky it's flying saucers!' And I remember we all looked up and it really was a flying saucer,'' Ms Peck said.
People reported seeing a circle of flattened grass on the ground where it had landed and some said they observed men in uniforms cordoning it off and removing soil samples, before torching the area days later.
The documentary says the school headmaster called a special assembly to tell the students they were not to talk about it to anybody.
Australian UFO investigator Bill Chalker said Westall was one of the top 10 major UFO events in Australia. ''I think when people see the documentary they will get a snapshot of the experience. Westall is highly verifiable, there's lots of witnesses, there's physical evidence and military involvement.''
6th November 2010 - The ufo scene up here in the Top End has gone quiet at the moment which is not surprising considering its the end to the ufo season! If the weather stays clear these next couple nights it might pay to keep an eye out to the heavans just in case there calender is set wrong! You never know what you may see, happy Hunting!
31st October 2010 - The ufo conference update! The main four people earmarked for the UFO Conference to be held in Darwin is the same as was always Advertised! Robert hastings, Nick Pope, James Fox and our own Mary Rodwell are the main acts with other speakers also to be announced if we get the appropriate funding and interest in the conference! As Stated in the NT News last friday that Edgar Mitchell is the headline act is not correct and he never was, only a secondary thought if we needed more speakers! We are in contact with Tourism NT and awaiting a response to our proposal. If anybody needs info about this event or wants to help sponsor it just email the site!
24th October 2010 - Let me please preface this to say I'm not the type to think every light in the sky is a UFO (as much as I wish they were haha). I am a firm believer, but haven't been lucky enough to really see anything conclusive.
On Tuesday night, at approximately 8:50pm I was driving along Southport Road (in Southport) on my way to Humpty Doo to pick up my husband. I hadn't quite hit the bend in the road (if you look at the map you'll see where I mean) when I saw two great flashes of light in the sky, about a second apart.
This was unlike ANY lightening I had ever seen. Now my first reaction was "Holy mother of god that is one hell of a storm, maybe I should turn around" and it was only because after several seconds there was no thunder and there were NO other flashes of light that I realised that the night was VERY bright, far too bright for there to be storm clouds around - especially the kind of clouds that would be producing such unusual lightening strikes as what I saw. The night sky was so illuminated that my 6 year old son was able to point out a chemtrail to me over our house before we had left.
I will try to describe them two you.
Both flashes were roundish in shape, not your normal streaks of light through the clouds, theses were like someone had flicked on a torch inside a baloon, then 1/2 a second later, turned it off. The light was coloured, pale pinks, mauves and blues - like you see in picture
perfect sunsets. The second flash was much larger in size than the first, I would say it was at least half the first again. The first flash was very large, I'm not entirely sure how far away it was because it was late and it happened so fast, but i would estimate it to have been the
size of a large truck (similar to a moving van). The second flash, much larger.
They were very close together in proximity, the very edges of light appeared to have overlapped. There was aboslutely NO sound, no wind, no thunder and no rain.
I'm not entirely sure what I saw, but i am positive this was no quick succession of lightening strikes. I hope, in your experience, you might be able to shed some light (no punn intended) on what I saw.
Sarah Smith.
Al's view: I thank Sarah for submitting her sighting and yes i believe she has seen some type of activity in the sky as i have been witnessing simular types of events for up to 7 years now!The flash they release when moving gives them away.I asked Sarah has she seen shooting stars, meteors, space junk burning up before and she replied yes she has but what Sarah seen was nothing like them!It was like 2 objects taking off at great speed a second apart was her description of events!
16th October 2010 - Another ufo sighted in acacia Hills by Al.
There has been mass sightings of ufo's around the world the last week so its no surprise to get a sighting in Australia's most visited destination! While al was spotting for Alien action he saw an orange circle appear in the sky then an orange line went straight through the centre of it! It was amazing to see and it didnt surprise me to see something as its all happening at the moment!
15th October 2010 - UFO Hunter Alan ferguson has spotted A bright white flashing object around 7.40pm at Acacia Hills last night! It was moving slowly then blinked out returning a couple seconds later on the same flight path! Then it started to fade out as if it was going upwards away from the ground! Then it was gone altogether! The sighting lasted around 30 seconds so not much time to get the video to capture the event! At first i thought it was a plane going through light cloud but there was none present and these planes usually catch my eye flying up from the south but this object has much more body to it and was brighter than the normal plane that was flying past 1 minute after! If the pilot didnt see what was happening in front of him i'd be very surprised!
Novafm from melbourne came up especially to go out ufo spotting but the weather was bad the night before so we cut it short but tonight it was much clearer and they missed out which is a shame as Wippa was hanging for a sighting!
11th October 2010 - Melbourne Radio station Novafm are cruising up to the Top end for a UFO spot this Wednesday night so it should be a bit of fun and if the boys from upstairs decide to arrive it should be an eye opener for em, fingers crossed!
The weather is a bit overcast at the moment so lets hope its not to cloudy!
4th October 2010-Victorian tourist Adam Rewuk has captured a ufo in one of his pics at Katherine gorge, just hours before hundreds of people at the Katherine show sighted a bright object light up the late afternoon sky then blink out! He states that he didnt see the object or hear it when taking the pic! It looks diamond shaped with a little bubble on the top he says!
Objects continue to be caught on camera here in the Top End so its a place to be when searching for the boys from above!
30th september2010 - UFO CONFERENCE-UPDATE Beings from another world are trying to promote world peace. I believe – these gentlemen believe – that this planet is being visited by beings from another world, who, for whatever reason, have taken an interest in the nuclear arms race which began at the end of World War II, said UFO researcher Robert Hastings, who was at Monday’s news conference.“Regarding the missile shutdown incidents, my opinion – their opinion – is that whoever are aboard these craft are sending a signal to both Washington and Moscow, among others, that we are playing with fire,” he said.In 1967, former Air Force Capt. Robert Salas was in an underground capsule at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana when the security forces above told him they had spotted a red glowing object just in front of the base’s front gate. After telling the airmen above not to let the object get past the perimeter fence, the 10 ICBMs he had purview over suddenly became deactivated, Salas said. He feels the aliens were sending a message, literally shining a light on nuclear weapons“They could have a lot more damage, permanent damage, to our weapons systems, and they didn’t,” Salas said. “If they wanted to destroy them, with all the powers they seem to have, I think they could have done that job, so I personally don’t think this was a hostile intent.”
Wow-So there you have some of what was said at the conference, very interesting indeed as there is something going on upstairs so the future will be very interesting indeed!!!
28th September 2010 - UFOs have monitored and possibly tampered with American nuclear weapons, according to a group of former Air Force officers who will make their claims public today at a Washington, D.C., news conference."While most of the incidents apparently involved mere surveillance, in a few cases, a significant number of nuclear missiles suddenly and simultaneously malfunctioned, just as USAF security policemen reported seeing disc-shaped craft hovering nearby," says Robert Hastings, author of "UFOs and Nukes: Extraordinary Encounters at Nuclear Weapons Sites." Today, at the National Press Club, Hastings will present six former Air Force personnel who will break their silence and disclose dramatic first-hand experiences with UFOs at nuclear weapons sites.
This is excellent news as the truth needs to be out there and disclosure is getting closer my friends! The calibre of Hastings and the launch officers telling there story are the type that I'm trying to get to a ufo conference up here in the Top End with grateful help from Stan Manley down in Brizzie!
14th September 2010 - A report has come in from Roger who states that he seen a strange object over the Timor sea on the 6th of September, this is what he says!
The object appeared to be a lozenge shape with the colour appearing to be orange or maybe a line of coloured bright lights along the side!it had a slight silvery tail that tapered to a point around 6 times the size of the object! The object was travelling from south to north and the sighting lasted around 10 seconds as it was travelling at a fast speed he says! He has 40 years experience on the water and seen numerous meteors, space junk, aircraft but nothing like this! Naval exercises were happening out there near the area at the time but you hear missiles and the likes that are fired but this object was silent! Also it just appeared out of nowhere!
A very interesting sighting and i thank Roger for his submission!
10th September 2010 - The interest in having a UFO Convention up here in the Top End is growing. I have received some emails from influencial people interested in this idea so lets keep the momentum going as this is a great idea to get the truth out! I will be working hard to make this happen!
3rd September 2010 - UFO HUNTER, Alan Ferguson has been down Wycliffe Well way this week to do a Tv shoot on ufo sightings and Alien Abductions for a group named (joinedupfilms) to be aired on SBS around Christmas time! I thank Ian and Dan for giving me the opportunity to be involved in this very credible doco that sets the record straight just as it should be! Pity the boys from above didnt show themselves while we were there filming but thats the nature of the beast sometimes. We had some of the best views you would ever want as central Australia is amazing at night!
25th August 2010 - While UFO spotting with Erik Black(ufologist)from Brisbane a couple nights ago he told me about a ufo sighting that he saw a couple nights earlier. He got in contact with me just on 2 weeks ago about where is the best place to go ufo spotting up here in the Top End! I told him where i hang out and Bingo, he spotted his first ufo after years of trying to see one!It just glided across the sky with no sound and looked like it had little fingers on it he described. It was hamburger shaped, amber in colour and had little dots on the top. He was so amazed at the site of the craft he didnt think to snap some pics of it as just looking at the craft in amazement took over his emotions! Well Done Erik and keep those eyes to the sky mate!
15th August 2010 - A report has come in from Simon Harris from Alice Springs that he seen a ufo last Thursday around 6.30pm travelling from north to south about 1,000 feet in the sky! The sighting took place around the Alice which he describes the object as cylinder shaped,silver/white in colour with a red glow from the tail! As usual there was no sound at all and he estimates it took around 15 seconds to go across the sky.
i am unable to say i have seen anything similar before he states .Can only compare to cruise missile, etc only silent!
Regards Simon.
9th August 2010 - Reports that Winston Churchill hushed up a close encounter between a WWII pilot and a UFO is another blow for sceptics i say! The Churchill story came after the release of previously classified British ufo files, which included a letter claiming the former PM covered up an encounter with a metallic UFO!
These cover ups have been going on for centuries, the evidence is overwhelming and its only a matter of time before the powers to be cant hide behind closed doors anymore as there will be none left soon! (eg ,excuses)
25th July 2010 - So far the ufo scene has been quiet which is a bummer! I have seen a couple day time sightings but nothing out of the ordinary. Spotted 2 fast moving silver objects shooting across the sky yesterday!Operation pitch black will fire up more this week so if out looking for ufos be patient and be ready!
16th July 2010 - UFO has been spotted over Katherine which hosts the Tindal Air Force base which is involved with Pitch Black! As i explained before this is a High Activity time for the visitors to come down for a look! Iridium flare up was a theory thats going around but i have seen 1oo's of them over the years and they just dont disappear or blink out as was reported by the eye witnesses! They light up as the sun reflects off the solar panels or Antennas but you can still see them moving before and after the flash has occured! Its getting interesting again at last!
4th july 2010 - Had a ufo report from my friend Janene a week ago who designed this site! Her friend and partner in crime Tilly who owns Tillsbitobull steakhouse on the sunshine coast sighted 30 orange coloured objects manouvering across the sky! 15 witnesses including 2 pilots who were dining at the steakhouse had no idea what they were seeing! The lights would move forward, then back, blink out then appear somewhere else! So now i know why nothing is happening up here in the NT, the visitors have moved area for the time being!
Thanks to Janene and Tilly for there report.
16th June 2010 - While i have been out ufo spotting for the last 7 nights i have seen 2 sightings which both lasted about 20 to 30 seconds! The objects were pulsing as they glided across the sky for a short time !The colour of the pulse was a brown/orangey look which occurred every 5 seconds then in between the pulses you could just see the craft moving at a slow but steady pace! They were high up this time so at least the visitors are still around!
28th may 2010 - "Cops investigate ufo invasion"That was the front page of the NT News as they received reports from witnesses seeing flares going across the night sky over an area of 360 kilometers just off the Top End Coast! Were they natural causes or was this an actual sighting of the visitors from upstairs? I had my say in the report stating how they manouvour and that the dry season is a mecca for the visitors as they love our dry season! Without interviewing the witnesses its hard to gauge what they saw. But still it was an interesting report!
22nd may 2010 - A ufo report has come in from Russ working over at bing bong Port at the McArthur River mine in the NT! The sighting was on the 8th May, a week after the mass sightings that were around Darwins Rural Area! His first thought to himself was "Bullshit, omg, i cant believe it"when seeing the ufo first up! He states that when checking the pumps at night he saw a craft that emitted red, blue and white flickering lights that hovered about 100 metres above the tree line! So intense was the light coming from the ufo that it lit the tree tops as it was hovering, making fast manouvers to the left then back again! It was too quick to be a helicopter Russ says and also it was making no sound at All which ruled out most craft as we know it! Russ watched the craft for 7-8 minutes before getting a call on the radio to return! Went back with somebody else 30 minutes later to find that the ufo had disappeared !Being a sceptic before the sighting ,now Russ has different thoughts!
I thank Russ and his wife Hayley for there submission!
7th may 2010 - Wow, hasnt the last couple weeks been "Outa this world" up here in the Top End!Lots of sightings by people that never believed in ufo's until now !But as it always goes, as fast as they arrive, they also disappear as well! What happened 3 weeks ago was a "HIGH" activity time and thats when you get your best chance to spot them!Fingers crossed they will be back shortly for another visit to there Favourite Holiday Destination!
29th April 2010 - As reported in the NT News today under the heading "We're being invaded" A mass of UFO sightings has Territorians wondering if we are on the brink of an alien invasion! There have been seven seperate Top End UFO sightings reported in the past week! Hardly a night has passed without a sighting of some "unexplained phenomena"since the first sighting last week!As i stated a few days earlier about my own sighting, all the sightings have come from Darwins rural area which i have stated for the last 2 years in the media that its a " HOT SPOT" for ufo activity! People reported seeing flashing dots which formed a semi -circle ,orange lights, bright yellow light that appeared just above the Stuart highway, went left then right then just disappeared! Craft hovering above houses was also reported so it was all Happening!
27th April 2010 - UFO'S have returned to there Favourite Location again right on cue at the start to our Dry season in Darwins Rural Area!Just after Friday nights reporting of a ufo terrorising a Howard springs family now ufo hunter Alan Ferguson has spotted a ufo sailing across the night sky on Sunday around 8pm! It looked bright white in colour giving a flash and also blinking out as it went by with no sound at all like usual and was around 10,000 feet high!Activity is high at the moment so people should be looking to the skies to get a good look at these babies!
25th April 2010 - A Territory family has told how they held their breath when a UFO hovered over their home!It was around 8pm last friday night when Susan Clarke of Howard Springs heard her partner yell out to her "to come out quick" .Myself and the lad were sober, and we saw a huge spherical object that was moving horizontally across the night sky very slowly! It was amazing and unnerving at the same time.It was glowing red, orange and gold!None of us had ever seen anything like it before.I was shaking just looking at it,it was very eerie and made my knees weak! The Howard Springs resident said she watched the UFO for about 3 or 4 minutes together with her partner and 16 year old son.It veered off at a right angle, then in another direction, then just shot off at a great speed and disappeared!
google ufo balloon,Alice springs for a look
